Connection issues: Dropped connection + failing handshake
I purchased a 1-day VPN, which worked for a couple hours, then suddenly dropped the connection. When restarting, it looks like the connection process is getting hung up at the handshake step. Where I get a recurring Wireguard: Sending handshake initiation to peer 7 (144.217.241.240:563). I'm able to ping the peer when off the VPN, but not after creating the interface.
I also had connection issues after purchasing a different conf file yesterday, but not sure if it's the same issue.
OS: Ubuntu 22.04.1 LTS wireguard-tools: v1.0.20210914
Are you 100% sure that you have not exceeded the data transfer limit of 5GB? Most issues of that kind are related to that. You can find all data limits here
Not sure, but I haven't been doing anything network intensive (e.g video/audio streaming). If that is the problem and I bought a 24 hr connection to only get 2 hours of normal usage, than the service is practically unusable.
In order to provide a usable service it is necessary to have data transfer limits. As in any open network you need some kind of spam protection. So there won't be an unlimited data option. 5GB for 24h is definitely enough unless you do intense streaming or similar stuff.
But it seems that data usage was not the problem in your case. So we will look into it. If you want a refund for you hard earned sats you can dm us on twitter or telegram.
Appreciate the help. The previous .conf that I purchased was for a month and also had connection issues which further supports it's likely not a data transfer limit. Let me know if having that information (other config file) would help.
