Lone Echo ignores default audio device when played through Revive

Open sleepsport opened this issue 1 year ago • 3 comments

I'm using a PSVR2 with Revive to play Lone Echo on Windows 11. The audio defaults to the headphone jack on the PSVR2 headset and cannot be changed to a different output, despite changing default audio device in Windows. Additionally, adjusting the volume in Steam VR or Windows does not impact volume level in Lone Echo

This issue does not persist with other Meta Store games using Revive (they all output to my USB Wireless Headset). The issue also does not persist when using a Quest 3 to play Lone Echo on the Meta app natively.

Expected behavior I expect the audio to output to the Windows default audio device

Environment (please complete the following information):

  • App: Lone Echo
  • OS: Windows 11
  • Headset: PSVR2

Versions (please complete the following information):

  • Revive: 3.2.0
  • SteamVR: 15141130

This is expected behavior. The Oculus SDK has a few functions that can be used to retrieve the headset audio device. Some games will use these functions to ensure they select the right audio device for the headset regardless of the Windows default audio device.

is there anyway to get rid of this behavior? it's a really annoying "feature".

I was able to get some games audio fixed with Audio Router it lets you route any applications audio to whatever device; haven't tested lone echo but it should work

Edit: Tested it on my Index encountered the same bug. Audio Router fixed it for me. Don't have a psvr2 to test it with but curious if it works on there too
