OpenEMR: Option to select multiple languages or a preferred language for each patient.
The current issue with the OpenEMR is that patients are limited to selecting only one language from a drop-down list in the "Demographics" tab. The lack of an option to select a preferred language or multiple languages spoken can make it difficult to collect accurate demographic details from patients. This same issue has been observed in LH-EHR too, that’s why its being reported here.
Steps to replicate the issue:
- Log in to the OpenEmr.
- Click on "Finder" and select a patient to work on.
- The Medical Record Dashboard of the patient opens up.
- Click on the "Demographics" tab on the patient's dashboard. This expands the window and shows multiple tabs within it.
- Click on the editor and go to the "Stats” option.
- The "Language" option is visible with a drop-down containing multiple languages.
- Users can select only one language from the list, and there is no option to select a preferred language spoken by the patient.
Therefore, a change is required in the language selection option to allow patients to select multiple languages or specify their preferred language.
Unclear what you mean by "Login to the OpenEMR portal" in this case.
- This is LibreEHR (not OpenEMR) though it is derivative
- The patient portal would not have a Finder, as the patient portal is specific to the patient (the finder is for the EMR user, doctor, nurse, staff).
I agree that it would be good for the patient, when logged into the Patient Portal to be able to select the language of choice, though I do not see how having more than one display language at a time would be helpful.
Screen shots of what you are reporting would be helpful
