Summary

When I try to filter by something like "Top, All Day", posts that do not match the criteria will appear in my feed.

Steps to Reproduce

  1. Go to a servers homepage, such as lemmy.world.
  2. Select the filter dropdown where it says active, and choose one of the "Top" options.
  3. Wait - posts will start to pop up that don't match the filter.

Technical Details

None.

Version

BE 0.17.4

Here is a recorded example demonstrating the filtering issue: Screencast from 06-14-2023 06:55:37 PM.webm

Interestingly enough, unmatched post seem to come from communities I'm not even subscribed to. Perhaps they are posts from subscribed communities for other members on the same server?

Sorry ^ - issue definitely still persists. It actually applies to all filters in my experience.

this is the one issue that makes lemmy unusable to me. i prefer sorting by top as that's the whole point of the voting mechanism. however none of the top filters work properly. new posts get flooded into the feed after a short period of time and as such the scroll position is ruined. i'm still trying because i desperately want this place to work but this one issue completely ruins my experience every single time.

seriously - this issue is an incredibly significant show-stopper. i got my friend to check and he sees it too. how is it that no one else is struggling with this? it renders lemmy COMPLETELY unusable! every day i wonder when it will get fixed as surely 200K new users aren't going to put up with this either.

@jpodpro , If you lurk a little more around the other tickets, you'll find that this is being addressed already with the migration away from websockets and should ship with the next release. If you'd like to help, I'd suggest coordinating with your instance admins in anticipation of upgrade migrations, to ensure you can benefit from such fixes as soon as they are officially released. So let's try and maintain a decent notification SNR.

@ruffsl thanks very much for the update. i've looked around extensively for anything related to this issue and have had a hard time finding any information so it's not without trying. really just wanted to make sure it wasn't just me and was being appropriately prioritized. 🥂
