The current UI lays out certain parts of the thread view in a way that feels (to me) wasteful and disjointed. More details in the solution block ;)

Old:

Pain points:

• n comments etc bar is above the post, making the title sit farther away from the body of the post and making them appear unrelated.
• "New comment" box is directly below the body of the post, when it should probably be part of the comment section.

Idea A:

Both of these append the post metadata bar right below the post body, similar to comments where it's within the comment body, and saves a little bit of space somehow.

Idea A sticks the "new comment" form underneath the sort option picker, while Idea B sticks it above the sort option picker. IMO Idea B makes more sense, but Idea A doesn't not make sense :)

Describe alternatives you've considered

The UI works pretty good today, but the disjointedness of the thread layout can make it easy to lose track of where you're looking on the page
