autofocus not working on safari and vivaldi

When I set an awesomplete field with autofocus, it works on firefox, but in safari and vivaldi,I can see it has focus for a moment, and then it loses it.

Experiencing the same issue. The autofocus attribute remains but the functionality isn't there. Tested in Chrome, Chrome Canary, Firefox, Safari, Safari Developer Preview, Opera and Firefox. All on MacOS Sierra. Firefox is the only browser where autofocus still works alongside awesomeplete.

I tried removing the autocomplete and aria-autocomplete attributes that are appended to the awesomeplete element to see if there was a conflict there but it made no difference.

Same here.

–edit–

I gave up and just used focus() after the Awesomplete instance had been created and bound to the input.

FWIW, I both created/bound the Awesomeplete instance and focused the input inside of the mounted hook of a Vue.js component.
