Same happens here, but I feel this may be an intended feature tbh

I felt this way as well when writing the bug report. If it is working as intended, this feature should be toggleable. I can see why someone would want that.

True, this does annoy me so much when I mistype something

Was going to open my own issue about this but luckily you already did. I also feel like this is a feature but it definitely should be toggleable, especially because it differs from the default behavior of the official Pixel launcher. That's just my opinion but the default setting definitely should be to have the auto close toggled off because it resembles the default (and imo expected) behavior and probably is much more useful for most people because sometimes you hit the wrong key when starting to type and want to correct that mistake and keep searching, not close the search entirely (if I want to close the keyboard and search fast I can for example just scroll). This bothers me so much that it sometimes almost causes me to go back to the official Pixel launcher. I hate accidentally opening an app just because I hit the wrong letter when starting to type the app name and now when I want to correct it I expect the keyboard to stay open but it closes and I hit a random app icon. It's really infuriating especially because I don't understand the reasoning behind this "feature". For me it makes the experience clearly worse.

Until this gets fixed I don't think I will be using pixel launcher, which is a shame because I was considering it for its universal search. For now I will be using pixel launcher by inspire dream team on the Google Play store.

I also believe that this should be a high priority bug, because it is highly irritating

I was also about to open new FR for toggle button to keep keyboard visible.

Unfortunately current action destroys flow totally, and it is irritating.

This is also accessibility feature. I have dyslexia, and I make lot of typing errors. Sometimes I have to tap search bar multiple times, because I need to clear my typing error.
