Is it dead?
There are months with no commits and the last "stable" (far from bug-free) release was Oct/2017. It's hard to be used on Android as the editor messes with autocompletion, and there seems to be no fix planned.
Sad to see a good project failing to get momentum, as there's no decent note taking app as Laverna could become.
Looks like this project is not actively developed anymore. It's kinda sad. We've started developing a native Android app and going to release a very first tech preview this month. Maybe it will give a burst of energy to Laverna project and community at all.
A native app is neat. I can see how autocompletion keyboards can be a hassle on mobile web sometimes. Hope this gets the ball moving!

To my opinion laverna is already a pretty nice working tool, so please don't let it die! Instead of developing something new, let's put all the effort in fixing the remaining bugs and getting laverna to a better standard..
Laverna seems to still be actively developed. Just look at the Dev branch - seems to be receiving commits from @wwebfor regularly. The most recent commit is 29 days ago. Not bad IMO. It's just not getting frequent releases, I think. I don't know the reasons, and wish there'd be an announcement of some sort soon. Thanks !

I don't honestly know if it's still being developed or not, but I started fixing things on the dev branch last night.
