Add typing and general cleanup

Awesome repo folks. I'm building a feature for this repo and noticed Typescript was complaining a bunch about types being missing/not working so I fixed all of the type errors.

P.S. I'm not sure how y'all test this repo, so I haven't tested this change yet.
