No as far as I can tell I don't have that issue on Gnome.

It might be worth taking a look at the code for Sushi which acts like osx quicklook and generates previews for .doc, .xls, .ppt, .odt, .odp, etc. https://github.com/GNOME/sushi

I'd love file search for Linux too. It's just more convenient than having to type out and remember the full file path.

define using Gnome Dictionary for linux. Likewise contacts search using Gnome Contacts.

I'd love this as well, perhaps with the option to combine the search and awesomebar like foobar used to do so the results would be populated by the active search...
