Possessed mobs deal their basic damage regardless of the melee weapon they use (1.18.2)

the bug

I don't know exactly how to reproduce it but for me all mobs that can hold items deal like two hearts of damage (and rats deal half a heart) and sometimes they decide they want to deal normal damage or all mobs decide to deal half a heart. I have zero idea why this happens but the fact that it's not that widespread means that this may be a compatibility problem with some mod? maybe it's the no splash on mobs mechanic that is at fault? It's probably worth noting that bows do their usual damage.

The mods that i thought could be at fault for this: PlayerEx (the rpg stats mod) honestly that's pretty much it, there are mods like botania and bewitchment on the server i play but i don't see how they could fuck this up. there's quite a lot of mods there but none of them seem to be linked at least somewhat to the issue.

Another weird thing is that everything works fine in singleplayer. At least from what i've tested with only requiem and requiem with playerex. This stuff only happens on the server from what I can see. Weird desynchronization stuff?

It is reported before by me but I don't know whether it is expected or a bug. This issue remains on 1.19, especially when you possess mobs added by other mods.

I actually experienced this bug last night when I decided to revisit Requiem. I was using the latest version available (2.0.0 beta 16 for 1.19.3) and it happend. Switching weapons did not fix the issue at all. Dying and possessing something else also did not do anything. It's weird and I'm unsure how to reproduce this bug as it seems to just happen at random.
