[item] does not work with too many non vanilla items

Showing for example Shulker Box with too many non vanilla (custom enchantments, resource pack - ItemsAdder) items.

It shows in chat this:

Instead of the placeholder for showing player's item.

[inventory] is working fine. The issue is only with [item].
