Refresh while they update their record can cause picture to disappear

I refresh while they refresh (update sharing picture record), makes picture on my end disappear; If I refresh again after they finished updating their sharing record, I get the picture back. Is likely rare, but how do we prevent that? Could having picture in a separate DHT record instead of subkeys make more sense to only write on demand (if actually changed)?
