Future location

Open LGro opened this issue 1 year ago • 2 comments

Allow folks to share a location along with a time window when they'll be there, as well as display a time slider on the map so that we can browser through others' future locations over time.

  • [x] A future location should contain the location from a location picker, a start and end timestamp, as well as a name and limited length description text.
  • [ ] One can set as many future locations as one likes but they can't overlap (deny or just warn in case they do?).
  • [ ] When dragging the time slider across the map, locations active during the current selected time window are shown in a separate style than the fixed locations from addresses.
  • [ ] The location layers on the map can be switched on/off to help with visibility.
  • [ ] The maximum time interval in the future is 1 year (do we choose that arbitrarily or is there evidence to inform the choice?)
  • [ ] When I enter a future location, show me who is going to be there as well in three tiers: small radius, same city, same country; and offer me to contact them via existing channels (messenger, email, call). Potentially also show me an option to join them (#34) instead of creating a separate new future location.
  • [x] I would like to add future locations based on events from my calendar and pick the granularity (country, city, address).
  • [ ] auto remove past temporary locations from persistent storage
  • [ ] allow editing future locations

With 0225c7d28abac2dc82ea51fb631f0bfe0109df3d Android users can share events from their calendar or other ics files to Coagulate to pre-fill the schedule location form.

Some folks voiced the wish to browse their history of locations e.g. as means to facilitate reflection about a past period. Balance that with minimizing available data, or require opt-in to store location history.
