with Engine Lighting Relit, Kerbin sky goes black, oceans disappear
KSP: 1.10.1 macOS Catalina 64bit
Problem: Kerbin sky is black instead of normal blue, Kerbin oceans appear to vanish
Mods installed:
- Scatterer 0.0621
- Chatterer 0.9.99
- Chatterer Extended 0.6.2
- Galileo's SunFlares (Classico White)
- CollisionFX ReUpdated 1.1.0
- DistantObjectEnhancement 2.0.0.2
- Engine Lighting Relit 1.6.3
- Kerbal Joint Reinforcement 3.5.1
- Kerbal Alarm Clock 3.13.0.0
- Kopernicus 1.9.1-9
- ModuleManager 4.1.4
- PlanetShine 0.2.6.3
- EVE 1.8.0.2
- ParaSci EVE Pack 1.2.0
- SVT 2.2.0
- TextureReplacer 4.2.2
- Poods's Deep Star Map Skybox
- HyperEdit 1.5.8
I had TransferWindowPlanner 1.7.2.0; I removed it because I saw that it may cause a conflict – however, the problem persisted. Nevertheless, I have not reinstalled it.
Reproduction steps:
- With default settings on all mods including Scatterer, launch KSP and load a game, whether an existing save or a new game. (The sky will appear as normal in the initial KSC scene.)
- Launch any ship from the launchpad or the runway, or fly any launched ship from the tracking station. If on Kerbin, the sky will no longer be blue, and the ocean will appear to have vanished (although ships will still hit it as normal). However, EVE clouds still appear; mountain "blue-ing" will still appear roughly "as normal;" sunrise and sunset effects are inconsistent.
- Returning to KSC does not change this.
- If I quit to the main menu, no saves can be loaded; selecting a save and clicking "Load" does nothing.
Other notes:
- If the main menu goes to the Mun version of the main menu instead of the Kerbin version, an odd flickering/static effect is visible on Kerbin in the background.
- If it returns to the Kerbin version, all Scatterer atmospheric effects are gone (EVE and other such are still visible), but Kerbin does not exhibit the flickering effect.
- DistantObject flares are still visible in the black sky; however, the skybox is not.
- Stars, DO flares, Mun, etc. are visible as normal during nighttime.
- As I am using macOS Catalina (10.15.5), I am launching KSP with the
-force-openglargument.
Log:
KSP.log from launch with all listed mods included
Uninstalling Scatterer does fix the issue. I am now removing my other mods individually (with Scatterer installed) to see if any of them are causing this.
After checking my mods individually, the problem appears to have been caused by Engine Lighting Relit, of all things. Here is a link to the log file of a launch with only Engine Lights, Scatterer, and ModuleManager installed, in which the problem appeared exactly as described: KSP.log
Engine Lights is by no means an essential mod for me, but since a) it would be nice to have, and b) I have literally no idea why this might happen, I'm not going to close this issue yet, as I still think the Scatterer devs should take a look.
This is odd. I'm facing the same issue right now, so I'll try getting rid of Engine Lighting
Didn't solve it
Does this still happen with the latest version? I played quite a bit with engine lighting and didn't get any issues. Feel free to reopen if it still happens.
