issue with resizing

how come when i run swww img 8.png --resize=cropthe default background shows at the bottom of the screen, meaning the image has not resized, but when i take a screenshot the wallpaper fills the screen like it should. then when i try switching the wallpaper again it goes back to not fully covering the screen.
