Two buttons one over the other

Hello, when I toggle the visibility 'off' of a button covering another one underneath it still is perceived as the active one and prevents any events to be triggered (mouseOn, released, etc). I'm building a music app and would like to switch from a keyboard to a sequencer pad view but it's so far proven impossible to touch the keys underneath the sequencer pads.
