Project64 does not recognize Pokopom under "inputs"

Open herrvonbaum opened this issue 8 years ago • 9 comments

Hopefully I'm posting in the right place for assistance. I'm trying to get Project64 to recognize Pokopom under the "inputs" list, but nothing comes up. I've dropped "padpokopom.dll" under the "project64/plugin/input/" folder and restarted the program multiple times, but with no option in Project64 to select Pokopom as the "input (controller) plugin" (just the standard N-Rage that comes with it). Is Pokopom no longer compatible with Project64? I've looked all over the place for an answer to this, but haven't found anyone with the same issue. Most forum posts are from 2015 or earlier (which leads me to believe it's no longer supported).

My specs: Project64 v.2.3.0.210 [public release] Pokopom v.2.1-22 Windows 10 64-bit

Thanks for any help you can offer!

I did a quick test, downloaded PJ64 2.3.0.230 (HERE) and Pokopom 2.1-22 and it was selectable. However, that was the second time because for some reason it didn't work the first time... now it always shows up. o.O

I didn't check if it works properly in games and all, but support was not changed and I remember it working on older PJ64 versions.

Thanks for getting back to me!

So I installed the version at the link you posted, extracted a freshly-downloaded Pokopom v2.1-22 .dll to the plugin/input directory, and it still won't show up.

  • I've tried setting installing running the setup and opening PJ64 as administrator. Still no luck.
  • I've unchecked "read only" for the PJ64 folder properties. Nothing.
  • I've tried switching the "plugins" folder under settings to a different directory with pokopom in it. No dice.

Any other ideas?

Hmm... I'll go step by step.

  • I install the linked PJ64 into C:\PJ64, no desktop icon and in portable mode.
  • I extract padPokopom from the zip into PJ64\Plugin\Input. The only other file is PJ64_NRage in there.
  • Then, I run Project64 without admin rights and select english language when asked.
  • Going to Options, Settings... then plugins shows Pokopom in the Input list. (IMG)

Followed each of your steps (including sticking directly in 'C' rather than 'Program Files'; and installing as portable), but still couldn't get Pokopom to show up in inputs. It's just odd that PJ64 recognizes the N-Rage plugin. When I remove the N-Rage .dll from the inputs folder, N-Rage disappears as an option in the settings menu. But when I put it back in the folder, the option for N-Rage reappears. For some reason, PJ64 just refuses to recognize the Pokopom .dll.

Anyway, thanks for taking the time to troubleshoot this. If you happen to think of anything else, let me know.

Alright, I'll see when I can give it some debugging.

Hey there KrossX - i'm experiencing the same. Been using the plugin just fine on my machine, but trying to set up my wife's laptop (so i can keep using mine while she binges banjo tooie, etc) and it's not recognizing the plugin. We're both running win10 - same situation as above. I went through the steps you did about 3 different times reinstalling from scratch. Made any headway or have any ideas on what might need to be installed/etc? Thanks!

No idea what could be wrong. I tried messing around with it and only managed to make it crash; which is good I suppose, since it shouldn't have crashed. Though the version I use has that "give me money" popup that takes longer and longer, makes testing changes quite the annoying task.

#EDIT: TEST BUILD

**#EDIT2:" Make sure you're not missing the required runtimes... 2015 for latest official build, 2012 for that test build.

I also had this issue UNTIL I tried the latest version of Pokopom.

Installing runtime 2015 fixed this for me, cheers
