What is the dev status of homebridge-nest plugin?

There seems to be a lack of recent development activity and no lack of existing issues (Away not working, for example), so I wonder if this plug-in is a dead end. I find the plugin lacking as it is today. Are any fixes planned for the near term? Any update on project status would be of great help.
