Can you tell me what Siri commands I can use for Nest Protect and also Nest Thermostat please?

I don't know on Protect as I don't own one (yes, I wrote that for you guys but I don't even own one.. you're welcome 😄).

As for the thermostat, first off you need to make sure you set the names appropriately in HomeKit. The thermostat device itself has a name and the thermostat service has a name. Depending on which you tell Siri will tell you a diff temp. The service can always be referred to as "thermostat".

To get the current temperature: (air temp, not target temp)

  • "What is the current temperature of the thermostat?"
  • "What is the current temperature of the [Service Name]?"

To get the target temperature:

  • "What is the target temperature of the thermostat?"
  • "What is the target temperature of the [Service Name]?"
  • "What is the thermostat set to?"
  • "What is the [Service Name] set to?"

Here are a few I have been successfully using. I have three Nest Thermostats in the house named Bedroom, Upstairs and Downstairs.

  • Set Bedroom Thermostat to 75
  • Turn Off Downstairs Thermostat
  • Turn On Upstairs thermostat
  • Set Downstairs Thermostat to Cool
  • Turn All Thermostats On/Off

There will be others I haven't discovered yet.

"What is the humidity?" will get the current humidity at the station.

I cant seem to get home/away working with this.

  • Change the thermostat to Heat

Worked for me, because when I say "Turn the thermostat on" it changes to "auto" mode instead of what I had it last set to.
