New Kooboo is in development
Hi all, There is a letter to all Kooboo users published here: https://github.com/Kooboo/CMS/blob/master/README.md It's about the new version of Kooboo that's in development, we'd appreciate your support and advice. Thanks!
I hope you still stick to the same architecture principles, like leveraging all the ASP.NET MVC framework features.
And a question, will be it incompatible to old version? Because we have plenty plugins written already and it would be pity if we could't use them with new version.
But all in one, this CMS is (at least from my perspective) the best of all I used so far, keep doing the awesome work :)
Great news! I hope the new kooboo have a way to add nested forms in creating contents for easy insertion of various types related :D Congratulations on developing the best asp.net cms! We look forward to new version :+1:
Is there any update on this?
New Kooboo is (not) coming?!
Sadly we switched from Kooboo for our current projects due to assumption that the project is dead. We also have lot to contribute to the current version, but it looks like not even the current version is maintained any more.
Which system did you move to @aruss ?
@MarkSizer We built it from scratch since the project did not required so much CMS features it was ok for us. For CMS we plan to use Ghost blog it has static pages support and nice JSON API so it easy to integrate in other services.
Thanks @aruss, useful to know.
the new version is released!! check it out
We can not say that we are ready for new the release of new version, it do will come really soon.
We have a version available for download on the website now and also has an online version to register and use directly. This is only for preview.
We do still need 3 weeks time to make it everything ready and present the application in the right way to your guys.
In a summary, I list a few features might be interested.
-
No installation needed, start instantly. Download a file of < 5MB, unzip and double click kooboo.exe. in 1 second, everything is ready. No IIS, No MsSql, nothing required.
-
COPY a website function, it can clone a website and make it directly for editing. You only need a URL.
-
Inline editing everything, you can click anywhere in the webpage and editing anything directly, image, text, text content, etc...
-
Log everything. Everything is log and can be rollback, every edit can be reverted.
-
Disk synchronization, you can edit directly on the DISK with your favorite tool and it will be automatically synchronized into CMS.
-
Diagnostic tool. Detect problem on the website.
-
Incremental publish, work almost like GIT.
-
A lot and a lot more...
Please be patient for 3 weeks more.
sorry for saying released, but the website don't say anything about preview :)
and I have couple of questions, are we will be able to write code on (razor engine)?
and it will be open source or free only?
Hi,
Sorry for late response because I am still so much coding on it now, to prepare for final release.
- You will be able to code and upload existing dlls. There is an extension module hidden from the UI now.
- It will be free and open source as much as we can.
It will not fully open source because it has a clone website that can be misused to make fishing website. It contains a fully functional email server that might be misused to send spams.
