Update pairing instruction for Aqara WSDCGQ11LM

Open kovaga opened this issue 6 months ago • 6 comments

What happened?

The pairing instruction is not exactly correct and need to be updated.

currently it says

Pairing

Press and hold the reset button on the device for +- 5 seconds (until the blue light starts blinking). After this the device will automatically join. If this doesn't work, try with a single short button press.

But you need to mention that the button needs to be released as soon as the blue light blinks, otherwise the device would not go into pairing mode. So it should read

Pairing

Press and hold the reset button on the device for +- 5 seconds (when the blue blinks, immediately release the button for pairing to start). After this the device will automatically join. If this doesn't work, try with a single short button press.

here is the video of the process https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=t8xfRCXmjQE

Interesting, I have four of those sensors, a couple of years ago I connected them using the method described on the website, all was fine. Recently, when I tried to reconnect, it wouldn't work, until I found the link on the website that says that the button needs to be released as soon as blue light blinks. Tried on two devices and both worked.

I can second this: you have to release the button when the blue light blinks.

true. Button must be released. Sometimes the 5s press has to be repeated 3 times. Interviewing then works more reliably with the single press method (multiple times, mostly)
