[Feature request]: Add RSSI values to payload and map view

Open epower53 opened this issue 3 years ago • 2 comments

Is your feature request related to a problem? Please describe

Looking several years back in time, it seems RSSI used to be included in the payload for each device message, but it's since been lost. RSSI differs from LQI, in that RSSI is a measure of the radio power seen by the coordinator when it receives messages from routers and end devices. Units are in dBm (there was an issue in 2019 where the claim was made that RSSI is unitless - this is incorrect). See this wiki for more: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Received_signal_strength_indication

Describe the solution you'd like

Put RSSI back into the payload for device messages. It provides another check on coordinator <-> router link health, and since it has units of decibels referenced to 1mW power, making it a useful and meaningful debugging tool. Also would be handy to show RSSI in map view alongside LQI.

Describe alternatives you've considered

None.
