Crashed

Open Pititul opened this issue 7 years ago • 4 comments

I have been using KlasusT 8.14-8.18 for Neoscrypt through multipoolminer for a long long while because it's the best one for Neo. But for the last few weeks, with the new MPM, KlausT is the only ccminer that reboot my computer when it launches. Any idea why?

I have been experiencing stability issues using version 8.18 for Neoscrypt as well. This line in the release notes is what concerns me:

"more speed for Titan V with Lyra2v2 and possibly neoscrypt (untested)"

Perhaps what was supposed to add more speed for neoscrypt on the Titan affected stability on other cards? My rig has 6 MSI Gaming GeForce GTX 1070 Ti 256-Bit 8GB GDDR5 VR Ready DirectX 12 SLI Support Graphics Card (GTX 1070 TI TITANIUM 8G) and the 388.71 Nvidia driver.

I haven't yet tried a previous version of the miner.

@Pititul When your system reboots, then it's a hardware issue, like heat or a weak power supply. My ccminer version is using a little bit more power than tpruvot's

@Snowmane72 What do you mean with "stability issues"? Is it crashing?

My PC reboots/shuts down after a time - typically 1-5 hours.

I was concerned there were power/heat issues, so I pulled my power settings way back to 70% (126W/Card) and set my core and memory clock back to 0. I have two 750W power supplies, so at that power level I am only loading the PS a little over 50%, (756W total to power the cards then a little more for the system). But even at those ridiculously low levels, 8.18 and 8.17 both result in my PC shutting down.

By contrast, I am running tpruvot's with my GPU power at 100%, core +200, mem +400 and I have yet to have an issue. It's too bad really, because when your ccminer is running I get much better hash rates (on the order of 10-15%). But, no matter what I do, I can't seem to stop it from bringing down my rig after a few hours.

I plan to try some of the earlier versions to see if one of them is more stable for me. For the moment though, I am back to tpruvot's just to get back to a baseline performance and ensure nothing has changed due to the issues I am experiencing with this ccminer.

edit Just wanted to say I am also using 8.18 to mine a quark based coin on a different rig, and it performs both very well and very stable. Thank you for your efforts to make a better mining implementation.

Just to add some information. I've using several ccminers for different algos. Alexis, tpruvot's , and KlausT's. My rig reboots, but only when mining neoscrypt with KlausT. Finally, I've tried the following: Reset all OC settings. Everything is now 100% stock settings. I lowered my intensity from 16 to 15.
I replaced a PCI riser on one of the cards. (I'm using a 1050ti, and a 1060).

Next step is to reduce the intensity to 14.
