Aligning Issues

Not sure what is causing this. all texts are created by duplicating 'High'. They selected everything and hit horizontal align. there is some offset present.

I want to add that this happens only occasionally. not every time

I cannot reproduce. Can you share the prototype?

I think I narrowed down the issue. When I duplicated the second item, somehow the height of the container got reduced by 1pt. This was causing the issue. So I experimented with it, and some interesting things popped up.

I changed the height to different values and tried aligning again. Look at this example, the position of second element changes, depending on the number of items selected to align

horizontal align

I think it is something related to the averaging formula used to determine the final position

So as you can see, the second item with 15pt height changes its position, depending on the number of items selected to do the horizontal align.

I think other design tools address this issue by, supporting snapping to mid point of a pixel and mid point of the edges, when pixel snapping is enabled. Unlike adobe which support up to two decimal places, in X, Y, W, H values, Figma limits this to 9 points in a pixel. Again I understand that this could be a vector editor feature, but I just want to mention this issue. check the following GIF for snapping in Figma,

Another aligning issue. This one happens for an object inside another object, and with other elements are present near the parent object. If the parent is not aligned to the nearby objects, the inner object will not snap to horizontal or vertical centres. GIF included,

This issue is more basic, and part of the selection related issues. When a group of elements is tried to align with another single element, the group do not behave as the group.

Can you check the more snappy snapping ?
