Had a similar problem. I deleted my venv folder, restarted Web UI and let it rebuild it. After that, it worked.

You can prepend [using the special syntax](https://github.com/AUTOMATIC1111/stable-diffusion-webui/wiki/Features#styles) `{prompt}`, but I guess there is the limitation that you wouldn't be able to choose the mode individually to prepend/append.
