inline assist extremely slow

Description

The new Inline Asssist experimental feature is a great idea, but for me it usually takes around 30 seconds or more before a suggestion appears. This is with codestral-mistral model, though other models I've tried take even longer. For comparison, when I use the same provider/model with Continue, then suggestions appear in around half a second or less.

Is it this slow for others too? Or is it specific to my system?
