Pet Walking Mode
Pet Walking mode is one of the last features which SmartThings supports but uTag does not. It was not implemented due to how long it would take for what I perceive as quite a niche feature, which would not be used by many.
When enabled, the pet walking mode in SmartThings uses your device location and the Tag's, which is intended to be attached to the pet, to track the walk and allows you to mark places on the map where events (such as interactions, going to the toilet etc.) happened. At the end of the walk it gives you a map of your route and events.
If you would genuinely use pet walking, add a 👍 react to this issue. Please do not add a react if you wouldn't use it.

Would (or could) this feature allow 'lost pet' tracking or is it limited to device (with uTag installed) proximity/nearby/BT range is required?
If it could be used in such manner how much a game changing help it would be for folks with house pets that bolt through open door opportunities! and certainly those in fear /panic mode over sudden loud noises like thunderstorms, fireworks etc.

No, it would make no different to tracking. The tags are physically unable to send their own locations, the system only works when a device is nearby.
It's also worth noting that the main source of network locations is real Samsung devices - other devices with uTag installed will be rare.
