Use third-party service to manage translations
Right now the only way to include new translations is by manually translating the strings.xml
which is... not the best for regular users (error-prone, no way to track progress, etc.). I propose implementing integration with a service (I recommend Weblate!) to ease the task, like, a lot for casual translators.
I'll look into that
The one problem is my budget is $0 right now
It looks like Weblate is free for open source projects (See "Weblate proudly supports libre projects" here) but I don't know how difficult it is to set up. I looked at some other projects to find a few more options, but Weblate was definitely the most popular:
- POEditor (has a free plan, also has an free Open Source Plan)
- Transifex (has a free Open Source plan)
- Codeberg's Weblate instance (probably would require a project migration)
Please consider looking into this again. I'm sure there are a lot people out there who would use your app if it only was available in their language.
