Feature Request: Access to Unfiltered Eye Tracking Data in OpenXR

Open JadeGreened opened this issue 5 months ago • 2 comments

Hi, I'm developing with VIVE Focus Vision using OpenXR. Currently, there is no way to disable or control gaze filtering (e.g., smoothing or jitter suppression). This is a critical issue for researchers or developers who need raw eye tracking data.

In the SRanipal SDK, this was possible via SetEyeParameter and sensitive_factor. We hope a similar feature can be exposed in OpenXR API or provided via extensions. Thank you!

An issue (number 2567) has been filed to correspond to this issue in the internal Khronos GitLab (Khronos members only: KHR:openxr/openxr#2567 ), to facilitate working group processes.

This GitHub issue will continue to be the main site of discussion.

@JadeGreened thank you for your feature request. We've added this to our backlog as a possible feature we may work on. In the meantime the group recommends you reach out to HTC to see if they can move this functionality to a vendor extension.
