New science parts in US2 need setup

Open eberkain opened this issue 2 years ago • 3 comments

LinuxGuruGamer has a new release version of Universal Storage 2 that includes some new parts.

There are 5 new science defs

USmapCam USlaserAltimeter UStemperatureScan USbarometerScan USCameraPicture

There are new parts and... new science modules...

USMapCamWedge - miniaturization MODULE USAdvancedScience - USmapCam MODULE ModuleScienceExperiment - USlaserAltimeter

USBasicMicroSatWedge - survivability MODULE ModuleScienceExperiment - UStemperatureScan MODULE ModuleScienceExperiment - USbarometerScan also includes antenna, data transmitter, and command

USAdvancedMicroSatWedge - survivability MODULE USSimpleScience NEEDS DMOS - dmSolarParticles MODULE USSimpleScience - USCameraPicture MODULE USSimpleScience - magnetometer also includes data transmitter, antenna, solar panel, radiator, command

Its a bit of a mess reading these and I looked at trying to write a patch, but with the new modules I'm not sure what to do about it. So I am resorting to making an issue here and hopefully someone that knows more can help.

Hi @eberkain, I played out with the new US2 parts and I found something weird too. However, in order to be sure to be aligned, I found the experiments already showing up in the Kerbalism science panel, even if I didn't try running them. Have you got any strange behaviour with them? Do you have screens/descriptions that could help?

I'd like to add support back (well, even to update all US2 Kerbalism configs since now there is a stable release, thanks to @linuxgurugamer) in its entirety, if maintainers are okay with this.

They may indeed work fine, Kerbalism can still capture regular science results. Some of the DMOS experiments are setup like that by default, and things like CactEye work fine with kerbalism. The issue I have is most of there are repeats of already existing experiments.
