Increasing Dragon Targeting Distance

Is there any way I can increase the distance at which dragons will target mobs? The fact that their follow distance is only 16 blocks results in dragons losing interest in any moving target almost immediately. I find this frustrating as it makes the dragons feel much less dynamic/alive.
