Notifications stack up and don't get discarded automatically

Describe the Bug

When hitting "Apply" in the parameter panel a couple of times the notifications stack up and they never go away.

Steps to Reproduce the Bug or Issue

1. add a step to the canvas
2. select the step
3. in the right panel click 10x the Apply button
