Sleep/Shutdown Issue & Solution
_Issue Description_
The laptop can't shutdown/restart after running continually for a long time. (for example watching a 2-hours long movie which stops the laptop to sleep automatically)
and also when i set the "energy saver": display never turns off(and also never sleep), then after several hours, if i click the shutdown button, the laptop can't shut down.(normally it can)
what's stranger is that when i click the restart button, but the laptop shut down actually(but it seems to be not really same as the normal shutdown, it takes a little bit more time)...
and if the laptop runs for a several hours and go to sleep automatically, then it can't be woke up from the sleep state, yeah sleep to death...
_Solution_
Flash the Intel Management Engine Firmware in the Repo. Thank @savvamitrofanov for his solution commented in this issue https://github.com/Kaijun/Acer-V5-573G-Hackintosh/issues/6#issuecomment-225346907
It has been almost 2 years since we had this problem. Finally we made some progresses!
~~_Temporary Solution_~~
~~Force the laptop to sleep manually after the start of your laptop. After the power light turns orange, then wake the laptop up. After that, all the shutdown/sleep behaviours will be normal. The phenomenon as the description mentioned won't appear again.~~

I know about this solution , but sometimes it doesn't help.
At least it works for me currently... Should test it for more days 2014年9月15日 上午11:22于 "virusak" [email protected]写道:

Talking about issues. Sometimes i got this:
http://i43.photobucket.com/albums/e363/Majkwin/IMG_0039_zps7d37f7d2.jpg
Graphics bugs are visible on the top bar, and on icons appearing while changing volume/brightness. Usually restart helps.
i haven't even met that. but some users have the same problem. but a solution is replacing the old version of AppleIntelFramebufferAzul.kext. i don't know if they do some researches, i think injecting EDID or change the ig-platform-id may help. i can't test for you all, because it's totally fine with my laptop
AppleIntelFramebufferAzul.kext have a try. do not forget to backup your current AppleIntelFramebufferAzul.kext
So i should change only this one kext?

i didn't change the color layout. but i have adjusted that manually for my extended display.
Hmmm, i don't even have that kext in library/extensions
it's in /System/Library/Extensions/ actually

After change I've hot lags preety much everywhere, even after restoring original kext.
lol sry i have no idea…
Another issue - sometimes when i plug in headphones/external speakers audio is still playing through built-in speakers (it happens another way too - after pluging out headphones there is no audio)
BTW, @Kaijun have you tried enabling 750M? Is it even possible?
Hi Majkwin - as for sound I have this issue too, sleep helps to resolve it.
yeah just sleep and wake up immediately. Are you guys using the patch "on the fly" mode? It may be the problem of clover I think. Because preciously when I was using the patched AppleHDA.kext, there was no such kind of problem. 2014年9月26日 上午9:45于 "virusak" [email protected]写道:

Today after working for about 3h, OSX had problems with shutting down, but after all laptop turned off. The only problem is that it can't turn on again. Be sure to backup your data quite often.
@Majkwin the laptop can't turn on anymore???
No, just some system files got corrupted. Unfortunately I was forced to reinstall whole system and then restore from time machine backup.
Sometimes I just only got the bootloader corrupted, so I'm always preparing a Clover USB stick for fixing the bootloader anytime 2014年10月2日 上午11:10于 "Majkwin" [email protected]写道:

There is a new BIOS version (2.29) with this description:
Fix system sometime shutdown by PECI read fail in Win PE
Do you think we should update BIOS to it?
It may fix shutdown issue without DSDT
Who is brave enough to try?

@theguild @virusak @Majkwin i would have a try and extract/modify a new DSDT, but later after finishing today's homework
@virusak @Majkwin @theguild done. check here
upgrade your bios and have a try.
(But i didn't see any obvious difference in the new version, don't know if it's helpful for fixing the problems)
They're in the Clover/ACPI/patched location, right?
replace the files in /EFI/Clover/ACPI/patched (except SSDT.aml) with the new DSDT/SSDTs here
Ok, I updated and unfortunately there are some problems. Loading now takes something about 20s (on 2.28 about 11s, so there is a huge difference) and brightnest control doesn’t work :(

i didn't recognise any difference in loading. it's totally same with me.
and brightnest control works, try fn+f12, i just forgot to add the fn+:left_right_arrow: control.
F10 and F12 works. Can you tell me in which file I can change it?

@Kaijun , you don't have any problems with 2.29 and those dsdt? I have lags when I'm waking up PC after sleep. Only clean restart helps :(
EDIT: I just returned to DSDT from 2.28 Bios and everything works fine - faster boot and no lags after waking up from sleep
no i don't have such problems.
and also i didn't see any fixes/improvements in v2.29 yet, the shutdown problem still exists.
You sure You uploaded proper files in 2.29 dsdt section? Like i wrote, on new files I’m getting bugs which i don’t have on older ones. Now I’m on 2.29 bios with old dsdt files

@Majkwin i didn't find any bugs except i forgot adding the FN control. if you just describe the phenomenon, but not the concrete log or something which can help debugging, then i don't know what i did wrong and how to fix.
PS: I'm not pushing anybody to update the newest Version before it's fully tested.
Hi Has someone managed to do something in this topic? Shutdown and audio issues are the only 2 that have left to fix.
@Kaijun, don't you think this has sth to do with audio? After turning on computer there is no problem with sound ( changing built in speakera <-> line out) until it goes to sleep mode. After that I have problems with line out, but simultaneously shutdown issue drops. Maybe modified applehda kext is bad?
Sorry I'm a little bit busy currently and didn't read your posts on Github. I also noticed this annoying issue, but I already have read a thread about how to fix this issue. Would have a try until I get rid of my current stuffs... So be a little bit patient, maybe this weekend :) On Jan 6, 2015 10:53 PM, "Majkwin" [email protected] wrote:

@Majkwin i just tried but it did't even work... the temporary solution is just re-sleeping the laptop and then the sound will be correct...
@Kaijun So have you soluted the problem? My Laptop is Acer R7, also have the same problems that can't shutdown when running too long times.
@sintonwong haven't found the solution yet :'(
Update ME region to the actual revision. As i know 9.5.15.1730 has huge problem which affects pm...
@savvamitrofanov ME region?
@Kaijun , yep , intel management engine uefi region. you can download firmware suitable for yours ME and tools for uefi shell from here http://www.win-raid.com/t596f39-Intel-Management-Engine-Drivers-Firmware-amp-System-Tools.html. Just for me it solved all problems with shutdown/sleep/restart after long, heavy load on my haswell laptop Asus X200LA you need first download tools , as expected you need 9.5 tools, then take from this package meinfo.efi and check your me revision from uefi shell, then download firmware update from win-raid, then flash from uefi shell using fwupdlcl.efi like this "fwupdlcl -F FW.bin"
@savvamitrofanov wonderfull idea! so if i update ME, the shutdown issue in win10 can also be solved, right?
@savvamitrofanov when i try to download any file from the web you offered, it returns a "ERR_CONNECTION_RESET", which means I can download any thing. would please supply the tools I need to upgrade my ME
I've downloaded this file https://drive.google.com/file/d/0BwTusS8Rc47_Um1yTUlwM3lucmM/view?usp=sharing I mean archive for me region. But I have no idea what to do with it.
@virusak do as @savvamitrofanov posted. I'll give a try soon
@savvamitrofanov
executing meinfo.efi
has following result:
definitely 9.5.x, But still not sure which firmware i should flash...
Consumer Systems? Corporate Systems? Mac?
@virusak @savvamitrofanov I just tried those three, the Intel ME 9.5 Consumer 1.5MB Firmware v9.5.55.1948
version was successfully flashed!
Mac version and Corporate are not allowed to be flashed.
Tutorial:
- Save this fake image
and rename to .zip (Or download files on
win-raid
yourself:Intel ME System Tools v9.5 r4
andIntel ME 9.5 Consumer 1.5MB Firmware v9.5.55.1948
) - Copy the extracted files to your favourite partition, I just copied it into my EFI partition easily which is the first partition.
- Boot to Clover, you will see a small button named
boot efi shell
or kinda similar - run
FS0:
(depending on the partition you extracted your files in), notice the colon:
, don't forget it! - run
MeInfo.efi
, check your currentFW Version
. (use PageUp, PageDown button to scroll) - run
FwUpdLcl.efi -F fw.bin
to flash the new firmware and wait till it finished. - Reboot and enter
efi shell
again, runMeInfo.efi
, check ifFW Version
was successfully updated to9.5.51948
I'm also not sure if there're significant improvements. I'll keep my laptop on for the whole night and see if magic happens! 🎉
@virusak @savvamitrofanov Holy Fuck, It seems that the shutdown issue was gone. I'll keep testing it in different cases, and see if it was totally fixed as expected
@Kaijun awesome And what about sleep?
Still need to be tested, need time :) you can also flash it and see what happens

@virusak Sleep also seems to work after the laptop was on for 3 hours.
Finally!
@savvamitrofanov Thank you soooooo much!!!! 🎉
@all @virusak @Majkwin @theguild @sintonwong @savvamitrofanov @zwj0571
Finally we made some progresses!
I updated my repo and uploaded all files including tutorial of new Intel Management Engine, which fixes the annoying Shutdown/Sleep/Restart problems!
Download the latest release and Check https://github.com/Kaijun/Acer-V5-573G-Hackintosh/tree/master/Management-Engine-Firmware
Thank you all & Happy Hacking! 💯
So I might jump back in this evening too. These fixes sound pretty cool and I can´t wait to boot El Cap again
I'm glad to hear this, that this issue was solved for you guys :)
My curent FW is 9.5.3.1520 LP I'm receiving such error Error 8714: Firmware update not initiated due to file open or read failure when I try to run FwUpdLcl.efi -F fw.bin
Update: now everything works
@virusak which model do you have? 573g 573pg?
Check the MD5 value of your fw.bin, is it same?
MD5 (fw.bin) = c3fa8e05c5d459d2b397147fbbd90d07
@tsoltan @virusak plz test if shutdown works as expected. I also need feedback from you guys!
ok I'm going to do a clean install
confirmed working on my 573G i7 - have not tested sleep yet
-edit sleep working!!
I have working sleep/wake/shutdown, but sleep and shutdown can take 20 seconds or more...
I did have a few moments when it did a near instant shutdown, but not many of those.
I have the V5-573 (NON-G) using that unlocked BIOS you provided in solution #6.
@soltant I have a same error with you
Error 8714: Firmware update not initiated due to file open or read failure
Finally i solve that in windows. You need get the tools Intel+ME+System+Tools+v9.5+r4.rar
and run FwUpdLcl64.exe -F fw.bin
as admin.
Greetings to you all! My hackintosh is running macOS High Sierra 10.13.2 and I was able to fix sleep and shutdown issues with a series of terminal commands. They must be entered in the order listed below. I hope it helps you guys too.
sudo defaults write /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.apple.securityd ExitTimeOut -int 5
sudo defaults write /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.apple.mDNSResponder ExitTimeOut -int 5
sudo defaults write /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.apple.diskarbitrationd ExitTimeOut -int 5
sudo defaults write /System/Library/LaunchDaemons/com.apple.coreservices.appleevents ExitTimeOut -int 5
sudo defaults write /System/Library/LaunchAgents/com.apple.coreservices.appleid.authentication ExitTimeOut -int 5
An update from my post of about a year ago... everything still working perfectly as expected - running 10.12.6 now, and all is good.
