Summary

Issue: Broken Link in Community Dropdown - Peertube

Description:

The "Peertube" link located within the Community dropdown menu on the site is currently broken. The associated domain, jupiter.tube, which previously hosted the Peertube instance, has been repurposed for hosting https://colonyevents.com/events/.

While the A record for jupiter.tube remains active, the content it resolves to is no longer related to Peertube, which causes a certificate error.

Impact:

Users attempting to access the Peertube community resource through the provided link are redirected to an unrelated website, leading to a poor user experience and potential confusion. It also causes security concerns as the certificate for the site is not valid.

Proposed Solution:

  1. Remove the existing "Peertube" link. Given that the original Peertube instance is no longer accessible at jupiter.tube, the link is outdated and misleading.

  2. Add a new link to "ColonyEvents" under the Community dropdown. As jupiter.tube now hosts https://colonyevents.com/events/, it is recommended to replace the Peertube link with a direct link to ColonyEvents.

  3. Ensure the new link points to https://colonyevents.com/events/ or the primary ColonyEvents website https://colonyevents.com/ based on the desired target location.

Rationale:

  • Removing the broken link resolves the immediate issue of users being directed to an incorrect location.
  • Adding the ColonyEvents link provides users with access to the current content hosted on the repurposed domain, enhancing the site's relevance and accuracy.

Implementation Notes:

  • Update the Community dropdown menu's HTML or configuration to reflect the proposed changes.
  • Verify the functionality of the new link after implementation.

Expected Outcome:

  • The broken "Peertube" link will be removed.
  • A functional "ColonyEvents" link will be added to the Community dropdown.
  • Users will be directed to the correct website when clicking the ColonyEvents link.
