Seal is not current on the Accrescent app store.

Describe the solution you'd like

I would like to see stable releases of Seal being released on Accrescent.

Additional context

Even though Seal is on F-Droid, there's a delay between when the latest Android app version is updated on GitHub and when F-Droid releases the update (due to F-Droid's build time of Seal and other apps).

Accrescent releases any Seal updates as soon as the update is ready upstream (which is GitHub), which is potentially faster than F-Droid. Accrescent instantly updates apps when updates are detected (every 4 hours, IIRC). Using Accrescent is also a bit user-friendly than manually installing Seal by downloading it from GitHub onto your Android device.

Accrescent has an FAQ section on submitting one's app onto Accrescent and more documentation on publishing an app on Accrescent.

Also on IzzyonDroid. Izzy releases new update of apps almost the same day as Github release. The repo can be enabled in f-droid so f-droid users don't have to switch. For instant updates there's also Obtainium

Accrescent looks good, not many apps available yet from their main app, so adding Seal to it could lead to more exposure.

Accrescent looks good, not many apps available yet from their main app, so adding Seal to it could lead to more exposure.

Important to note that the reason why it doesn't currently host many apps is that it operates on a whitelist basis while some things are being improved. It's not quite open to submissions yet, though if someone wants to add their apps and understands it's still early days, they can likely be allowed to publish their app without any issues.

I've discussed this with @matchboxbananasynergy months before (thanks!)

The main blocker of publishing Seal on Accrescent is the usage of a privacy-sensitive permission (MANAGE_EXTERNAL_STORAGE) which is only needed in some special use cases.

While I'm open to removing this permission with a new build variant to meet Accrescent's privacy requirements, which would not affect the user experience for most people, we both agreed that it would be bad to have the Accrescent version differ (or be stripped) in functionality from the GitHub version. And we don't want to bring an inconsistent experience for both of our users. Thus, the release process was put on hold until we could move forward on this without negatively impacting the functionality of the app.
