How do I type i with circumflex on the unexpected keyboard azerty layout?
How do I type i with circumflex on the unexpected keyboard azerty layout?
This is required to write in French. I think normally ^i automatically combines but the app does not do this?
I'm not sure if this is a feature request, bug, or a documentation shortfall (maybe it's easy to type but there is no intuitive affordance for the user to learn how?). How can I write all the characters needed for the French language using this app?
Do you see the Compose key? It's the arrow key on the bottom row if you tap rather than swipe. After pressing this key, you can type either ^i or i^ to get î. There is also a circumflex prefix key (northeast swipe of j) if enabled in your Settings. If you want to type î more easily, take a copy of the AZERTY layout and make a custom layout.
It seems none of the circumflex vowels are expressed on this layout, billed as "AZERTY (French)". You might submit an improvement.
If you have French enabled on your device, you should see the circumflex symbol on the up-right direction on the J key:
These keys are invisible if you don't have French enabled in your device's settings, which I think makes no sense, so I removed that in https://github.com/Julow/Unexpected-Keyboard/pull/1140
