ready for 1.0.0?

I think the package is ready for a 1.0.0 release and we should make one.

I think that's a good idea. The package is stable, mature, and widely used, so I think that should also be reflected in the version number.

Due to a mistake on my part the first attempt to register 1.0 did not go through.

Given the recent round of great PRs from @nsajko (#97, #99, #101, #103, the last of which is technically breaking) I would try again. If anyone has a anything we should wait for, please tell us before Thursday, Aug 21.
