Registering the package: version number

Open timholy opened this issue 3 years ago • 4 comments

Should we release as 0.1.0, or jump straight to 1.0.0? This hasn't seen a ton a real-world usage so it would make sense to be cautious, but it also might not change a lot henceforth.

Registering it would be nice though. 0.1.0 sounds OK at first. I would also like this to be part of the meta package Images.jl, which might also promote more widespread use. I didn't know it existed after I wrote my own version of loading multiple images and @stemann alerted me to this nice work here ;-)

I like stuff to start at v0.1.0 (too).

One could also consider renaming to something less file-bound, to allow for other sources of data than files, cf. #7.

E.g. MultisourceArrays

.. possibly. And it does not necessarily need to be about loading (or mapping) only. One could also imagine support for batch processing lots of data on disc this way. But on the other hand the users should be able to find this toolbox, if they are loading multiple files. This speaks for keeping the name and in particularly the load_series command as this is what one would look for.
