this would be neat. Can probably look at how e.g. JLD does this.

Also BSON.jl has this feature.

btw, it would be very nice if jld2 could add this feature which is very important to serialize Flux's models. Afaik this the only thing that prevents Flux from move to jld2, which would be nice since BSON.jl is not actively mantained.
