JOSS paper
Hey @Datseris,
You said in a comment that you're going to be busy the next few months. Therefore, I'm just letting you know now that I'm planning on writing up a JOSS paper on this software too. The repo has gotten some attention, so I think it's a good idea to release a JOSS paper at this time, so that we can track interest and usage (also important for securing future funding for this project).
My timeline is to write and submit once I've finished up the last few method PRs that I either have lying around locally and/or have been submitted as PRs in this repo (well in time for this autumn's major research grant deadlines I'm targeting, so weeks to around a month or so).
The structure of the paper will be roughly the same as for the TimeseriesSurrogates.jl, with the focus being an easily extensible library of (time series) causal inference methods, with a small comparison to MATLAB and Python versions where there is method overlap.
I think that you should be on the paper too, since you have contributed significantly to some of the code and to reviewing PRs. However, I don't want to take up too much of your time now that you're already quite busy. My proposal is therefore: would you be okay with me taking the lead on writing up the paper, and tagging you for final adjustments once it is roughly done? I'm guessing the workload on your part will be minimal, since most of the code is already in place.
Hi!
Sure, sounds good, I'm totally okay with that! I will find the time to review the manuscript as well! The good thing with JOSS papers is that they are relatively short!
I agree it is a very good idea to have a paper about this software! I will be advertising it in the meteorology department in stockholm next year as well!
