snapchat beta and account locking due to 3rd part apps.

Is anyone here looking into snapchat beta? I applied this morning but somehow the "opt-in" for the beta does not work on my end, I guess my IP is flagged or something.

So I was wondering if anyone here has had the privelege to look into the beta code.

Especially if there's something that will fix the current issue I have which is getting locked due to 3rd part apps. if someone has a non beta related fix, please let me know as well!

I've looked into it and found nothing in relation to fixing locked accounts. I have seen the snapcash code though, But still need to look at how it works.

All I know is that if you login using a third party application (probably on the app store) Snapchat will lock your account.

How can they possibly tell? Unless some of them are not duplicating the headers correctly?

Though I came back with the same question as ddaddy, what triggers a locking of the accounts when using 3rd party apps.

Part of me thinks it's snapchat themselves targeting apps on the appstore and reverse engineering them, to "hunt" down accounts with the info they gather, though I might be wrong.

Meaning that it's something that they check, and it's something that isn't a variable but more like a "fixed" "something" in the code of a 3rd party app

That rules out my initial thought of certain actions that trigger the lock, since like I said, it's not a variable to that degree.

I'm thinking it's most likely one of the following:

-headers -hash/key

Or a combination of new headers combined with old key.

Again, I'd like to hear other input on this matter. if anyone is willing to share, that would be great!

Third party apps all use outdated version numbers, and they all use the same outdated version numbers and android version. At one point when the third party app gets enough use, Snapchat will see an increasing amount of users using a certain outdated version, whereas the "official" userbase generally use the latest version of the official app thanks to automatic Google play updates, so a rolling number follow the latest version number. Of course they can't just ban every user using an outdated client, they require repeated use of the application, and they probably flag up version numbers they see in various third party apps on Github or by decompiling them.

There is a way to unlock a "locked account" and it's an official way according to support.snapchat.com which involves simply changing the password. Apparently they will lock the account after repeated locking of the account after repeated use of third party apps.

Maybe a solution to this would be to get a list of Snapchat versions / Android phones compatible with the current third party client and use them at random for each request, or assign randomly to each username.
