Application Doesn't Install on Lenovo Thinkpad X1 Extreme Gen 3

I've tried installing this both this both as the local user and as an administrator, and either way, a window pops up stating that setup has completed. Yet, this happens immediately after running the .exe file, and if I look at the details, it only states, "Completed." I can't seem to find this anywhere on my system, so I can only assume that it didn't install properly. I was wondering if this was a known issue, and if so, if there was a workaround for it. Thanks very much!

As an update to this, I wanted to add some clarity to the issue I've been having. I'm running Windows 10 Pro v20H2 (OS Build 19042.928). I sign into this system w/ my Microsoft user account, but it is a local account. Nonetheless, the LBCService does not install, nor does it even initiate the installation process, run as either the local user or as an administrator.

I've tried installing in a couple of different ways, and I've attached some screenshots, so you can see a bit of what I'm referring to. This first screenshot comes from having installed as the Microsoft account local user, and as you can see, it notes that it completed. 01 - Completed

Yet, when looking at the detailed view, you can see that nothing happened. 02 - Detail

In this last image, I ran the Installer.exe file via Microsoft's command-line SysinternalsSuite. This way, I could guarantee that I was the local user, and I got the same results. I attached an image of the directory that the LBCService resides in, so you can clearly see that the .xml file was never created. 00 - Full Screen

I'm not really sure how else to go about trying to install this, but if you have any thoughts for me, I'd greatly appreciate hearing them. Thank you!

Sorry I am new here with a dumb question. Where is the LBCServiceInstaller.exe? I download the whole package even the older 1.3.0.0 version, still cannot find the installer program. Actually, I cannot see any program .exe file. What did I miss?

I just figured out! I have the same experience and screen as yours. Basically you installed wrong program. All you need is go to https://github.com/JooJooBee666/LBCService/releases and download all applicable assets not just the codes. Then run and install them individually. image

Thank you for posting this. I'm not certain that I understand, however. I have all of these files, and I was finally able to figure out how to install this by stopping the Windows Defender application, but while the service shows as running in the task manager, there's no GUI. I can access the LCBServiceConfig.xml, and make changes to that file, but that's it. When you said to install each asset individually, which were you referring to specifically? Thanks, again!

I may do it in a hard way though. All I did is download the “service" "setting" and "Setup" programs and install them in the source code folder, and it works out fine. image

My keyboard backlit can stay on every time I power on my x1. Hope that helps!

The only thing you really need is the LCBServiceSetup.exe from the releases. I release just the single exe so you can manually replace that if you so desire.

Thank you both for your responses. I believe that I may have finally been able to get this running by downloading only the LBCServiceSetup.exe and installing that, then running LBCServiceSettings.exe from the install directory. After restart, I'll see if the current state of the backlight remains persistent. Thank you, again!
