Slow performance

Open pomtom44 opened this issue 1 year ago • 14 comments

Not sure if this was an issue before and im only just noticing it now. or if it is an issue.

Previously my NAS was running windows, and I had the backblaze client installed directly onto it Iv moved over to unraid now, and migrated my data over

I have Veeam backing up a few devices to the NAS, and then this gets backed up to backblaze

I dont know if running in the container has slowed it down, but it always seems to be running behind with the amount of data its trying to update and upload.

Im pretty sure I didn't have this issue on my old server, i was able to crank the threads right up and it would power though all the data. but im not sure how to speed this one up.

Apologies if this isnt the best place to ask for help. or if it is something obvious

Backblaze needs a LOT of RAM, when you have many files. Maybe you have more other services installed in your Unraid setup and the RAM is more scarce now ?

In general it could also just be the performance loss of wine.

Thanks for the reply. I dont believe its a overall ram issue, I have 48GB on my unraid box, and I only ever see it around 10-15% usage (with the backblaze docker turned off) I dont run many services on unraid, and nothing which uses much ram.

If I check the backblaze docker performance, I can see it showing 3-5% CPU usage, and 300-500MB ram

I suspect its either the wine overhead like you said, or unraid isnt passing enough ram to the container Would that be a possibility? EG can I tell it to use more ram, or more performance

By default dockers have access to all of the RAM of the system.

+1 it's very slow to upload things. I have 256 GB of system memory available, back is taking too much time

same for me. Backing up at 6mbps. It's so slow.

It used to be uploading at ~100mbps for me and now I noticed it's down to 6mbps for me as well. Not sure if an update had to do with it as I didn't check the speeds before updating.

It was ever since we went to Ubunutu22. A catch 22 as no other version works.

I have 16gb of ram free and the docker is using 7gb of ram.

Tried downgrading unraid but that did nothing. As discussed in this thread https://github.com/JonathanTreffler/backblaze-personal-wine-container/discussions/130 Version 9.0.0.749 works at full speed but also it is not advised to downgrade in case of backups corruption and to wait out until update.
