researchColony: Crowdsourcing Time & Funds for Research
Project Description What inspired me to come up with this idea was hearing stories about rare diseases that only a handful of people have in the world without there being any research or doctors knowing anything about the condition. This project aims to bring together the symptoms of unseen diseases with scientists, researchers, doctors, and the general public to find out more and reward them for their work in discovering more about the condition.
Not only could this be applicable to rare diseases, this could provide insight on general diseases such as the flu to neighboring countries that don't have direct access to medical professionals.
Possible Applications
- Someone with a rare unknown condition may post their story and allow contributions of both funds and knowledge to help them.
- A group or organization may come together to share a larger story about planned parenthood for example, where research can be funded and crowdsourced to learn more about the issues.
- Petition monetary support for possible organ donors or artificial limbs.

We are looking for:
- Developers who know Angular 6 and Web3.JS / IPFS
- Designers and content producers who can write about the application and inform users as to how they can contribute either time or money
What an interesting use case. Do you imagine this would benefit from a particular kind of UI?
@ConnorChristie definitely a cool idea - let us know if you're looking for additional team members
@jakzilla Since I really want to encourage both others to donate to an unknown cause someone is enquiring about and allow as many contributors as possible to figure out what the condition may be, I was thinking of a kickstarter type look where the page consists of the condition holders story (or stories is multiple people) and people can donate to the cause.
And yes, @jrmoreau I am open to new team members! :)
@ConnorChristie noted! thanks for letting us know!
Awesome to see you've gotten started with this! Don't be shy to post in Gitter if you've got any questions!
