I found an extreme example of the above problem [on this page](http://www.graphviz.org/bugs/b2168.html). Adding the ports (:se, :s, :sw, etc) to the edges helps to at least separate the connection points...

As I understand this, after the correction, the CRC should be correct. I suggest re-checking the CRC after correction and giving up if the re-check continues failing. As it is,...
