Please add support for Big Closet Top Shelf
Please considre adding support for bigclosetr.us/topshelf
It has a bit of an issue with varying formats, however the best method would just be to treat the url as the top of the download tree.
Multi-Chapter link: https://bigclosetr.us/topshelf/book/34739/white-wolf Single-Chapter link: https://bigclosetr.us/topshelf/fiction/47052/halloween-1972 Multi-Book link: https://bigclosetr.us/topshelf/book-page/54669/magic-kingdom
I don't know if this is even possible to do, but it would be really nice.
(These are some notes I made a while ago for this issue but didn't publish at the time.)
"A friendly place to read, write and discuss Transgender Fiction."
Notes:
- Sections for "Free Stories" and "Premium Stories"
- Organization of books(/book/, chapters: /fiction/), one-shot(/fiction/) and other?(/book-page/) looks a bit arbitrary.
- 'Print Friendly' links are available for /book/ and /book-page/ -- whole story, HTML should be parse-able.
- /book/ and /book-page/ chapters both have a 'title' like in breadcrumbs
- Sometimes that link goes to another chapter rather than a chapter list (https://bigclosetr.us/topshelf/fiction/76978/love-less-2-sea-life) Print friendly shows both. Chapters from print page?
- Author links are also /book-page/
- 'Print Friendly' on author page includes all sub content too...
- "Organizational" meta on page show 'Author', 'Title Page',
- 'print friendly' metadata not labeled well
- FAQ also mentions 'universe' pages
- Story (and author) page can (mistakenly?) have two copies of chapter list? Seen several
- <font> tags used in some chapters
Because linking a bit sketchy, use print pages for content? Only use 'Title Page's for story links? and metadata? Looks like all original. Don't see any fanfiction...
There was a user on BCTS that wrote a python wrapper that utilized beautiful soup to scrape and create ebooks.
https://github.com/mildred/TopShelf
The script hasn't been updated in 3 years, so I don't know if it still works or not. It used the print page as far as I can tell. I don't know any python so I can't tell what it does exactly...
(as an aside, Fictionmania is also primarily OC)
Just wanted to point out the comics retcon universe which is the biggest example I know of.
https://bigclosetr.us/topshelf/book/20577/comics-retcon-universe
There are a few others I know of but I guess it is mostly OC.
