Open theerfan opened this issue 5 years ago • 8 comments

Describe the bug When I try to connect to my server, it just says "disconnected" after about 1.5 seconds, with no errors or anything.

To Reproduce Steps to reproduce the behavior:

  1. Open outline.
  2. Add Server Key.
  3. Click on connect Expected behavior It should connect to the server after a few seconds.

Desktop (please complete the following information):

  • OS: Windows 10 x64
  • Version 1.3.2

Additional context I tried uninstalling and reinstalling it, it didn't work. Removed and re-added the server, didn't work. Updated the app with to the new version, still the same problem. And I don't have this problem on other devices, it's only happening on one. The video I took of the bug in action is attached in the zip file. Outline 2020-02-01 04-15-54.zip

Personally, mine is working flawlessly. What server are you using? Client: Windows 10 x64 version 1.3.2 Server: Ubuntu 16.04 from Vultr

My personal server, but I'm easily able to connect to it on my android phone and other devices.

I tried it again, it doesn't work with any server at all. Also, I tried deleting it, purging every remaining trace I could find, reset network settings and all, still didn't work.

Random idea: Did you install the TAP adapter during installation? You can check this by going to Control Panel\Network and Internet\Network Connections Or by going to Settings>Network & Internet>Status>Change Adaptor Options

And check if the outline-tap0 network adapter is present. If not, reinstall outline and make sure you agree to have the adapter installed.

Make sure the outline-tap0 adapter isn't disabled or anything.

after you've done these checks/steps, try running outline again and try connecting to your server again.

It was working fine until the day I posted this issue. I'm sure the driver was installed, I even reinstalled the driver and the app multiple times with no luck.

Today I tried again after reinstalling my windows, only this time Outline showed the "Outline hasn't been installed properly" error. After some desperate digging, I encountered this issue and apparently this is a duplicate of that issue, I installed V 1.2.32 and it started working like a charm. Even though the client updated itself to the latest version, it's working fine now. I don't know what went wrong between V 1.2 and 1.3 but the previous ones have a better chance of functioning properly.

I have the same problem with Windows 10. It works on every UNIX based device that I own, iOS included. Just not my Windows 10.

I removed all networking plugins/drivers and their corresponding software, such as OpenVPN, WireGuard, TeamViewer VPN, AnyConnect, etc. then I deleted the Outline app completely, including the AppData folder. Finally, I reset windows networking and restarted my computer.

I reinstalled, and the same problem occurred.

I don't have any way to debug it as the app is very simple. There is only one button really.

Update: I fixed this issue. See my comment here -> https://github.com/Jigsaw-Code/outline-client/issues/524#issuecomment-623654085

I have the same issue on my Windows 10 laptop. Outline version is 1.6.0.

The app was installed without errors but when I click on "Connect" it doesn't work.

  • I tried to disable antivirus
  • added Outline app to Windows Firewall
  • re-installed Outline

None of this actions helped.

But it works on my android phone fine.

In network connections the "otline-tap0" connection is marked with cross.

Will be appreciate for any help.

I solve it for me like this: go to Control Panel\Network and Internet\Network Connections. Open context menu on outline-tap0, then properties -> configure -> driver -> update driver -> automatic update. After this you should disable outline-tap0 and enable it. This is working so far. 🙃
