Open sailosha opened this issue 6 years ago • 10 comments

win10 environment, the Outline will have conflict with Astrill vpn. My servers works fine on other devices, but as soon as I install astrill vpn, the outline client will failure to connect server. Even though the outline manager still works.

The adapter setting is normal, and It may cuased by Astrill vpn's protocol or something else. I will use SS client to connect my server again.

@sailosha , did you find a solution?

I got the same issue, and I'd like to be able to use both, because sometimes one works better than the other.

thanks!

Both Outline and Astrill use OpenVPN's TAP adapter. Outline configures the TAP adapter on installation and renames it to outline-tap0; however, the underlying hardware ID is shared.

We have considered distributing our own adapter, which would allow us to have a different HW ID, but have not immediate plans to do so. We have also been following wintun developments to replace OpenVPN's adapter.

As a workaround, when you want to use Outline, I suggest you re-install the app to configure the adapter with Outline's settings.

Appreciate the update. It would be great to have a workaround for those who are comfortable compiling their own client (e.g. compile flag of some sort) to work around the issue.

I hear that, @hui-shen. However, the process to distribute a low level network adaptor is not very straightforward, as it requires enrolling in Micosoft's Hardware Program.

Thanks for the feedback, appreciate everyone's work on Outline. It's a great product overall.
