IRen updates not going through proxy

Support feedback:

At work, we run behind proxy all the times, and this is fine in general, as I can configure IntelliJ Idea and Toolbox accordingly. However, for some reason, IRen plugin doesn't seem to like my VPN setup, therefore, if I don't get off of VPN, the model update process will continue forever, and won't allow me to work. How can I make the plugin work seamlessly with my VPN setup, pretty much like my IDE does?
